Your Mother Was A Radical

Birthing a black child, in a world committed to black death, is the revolutionary act of the 21st Century.

Your mother was a radical.

Don’t let her down.

Continue the tradition

of carrying-on,

living through,

defying death

and being

you.

You radical partical

freely flowing

from invisibilty to

hypervisibility to demand

create and make way

for your livelihood.

A humanity always known, yet

rarely, fairly, articulated in

the news or rooms where opinions are made

truth. Proclaim yourself here,

present

and unbossed. For

your mother was a radical

and you weren’t born

to die to yourself.

Thanks Ma.
