To My Lover, A Poem

by Jordan Barnes

To my lover –

You sing sun and stars in Your smile

simple melodies

instant truth lost in titanic teeth

pink gums, beckoning elegance

like diamonds beget by diamonds

To my lover –

i am lost in Your eyes

i have never known a home so foreign

so calmly wild;

there’s pure ecstasy in the way You see (through) me

the way You rip me apart in the name of edification

how do You find purity in my despair?

To my lover –

You are fire in my bones

You are pain

You are tearing, rending, shredding madness

crashing waves on the shores of my soul

You are silent tempest.
